Single men dominate Dubai's workforce

Figures released by the Dubai Government have shown that single men outnumber single women by around seven to one.

The numbers were released last week by the Dubai Statistics Centre, they showed that the number of single men currently employed in Dubai was 349,124, compared to just 51,441 employed single women.

A whopping 90 percent of Dubai’s workforce is made up of foreigners, with more and more expats flocking to Dubai in recent years as Dubai’s economy continues to grow.

However Mark Beer, the chairman of the British Business Group in Dubai, doesn’t think that these findings should deter women from seeking work in the emirate: “this man-to-woman ratio is probably skewed by the huge number of men employed in construction. But whichever way you look at it, there are still incredible opportunities for women in Dubai”.
