Marks and Spencer are planning on having a high street store and also a French online store in a bid to lay claim to the money of Parisian shoppers.

Overseas expansion is a major focus of Marks and Spencer, and they are hoping that the Paris venture will be a good inclination of success that can be developed in other countries.

Expatriates in France are excited at the prospect of sampling some of their favourite UK treats, However they have also warned that they will only shop there if the price is right.

Marks and Spencer chief executive Marc Bolland said: said: “Marks & Spencer has great brand awareness here in France and a place in customers' hearts. We're very excited to be returning with an e-commerce and retail offer to delight customers with our full range of clothing and home products, and the exceptional food from our Paris store.”

Expat Mark Stevenson said: “We are all much more price conscious. The markets here provide a good deal in terms of price and quality. I do like their shirts though.”
